He was predeceased by: his parents, Delano Paynter and Alma Paynter (Kraner); his wife Catherine C. "Katie" Paynter (Krichbaum); and his sisters, Phyllis Landers, Meri Lee Sprang and Carol Paynter.
He is survived by: his children, David Paynter (Kathleen) of Crestline and Linda Hicks (Jim) of Crestline; his grandchildren, Sarah Metzger (Thad), Aaron Paynter (Sarah), Rebekah Weber (Bob), Adam Paynter (Amanda), Hannah Mary Paynter and Kaitlyn Hicks; and his brother William Paynter (June). He is also survived by 17 great grandchildren.
