He was predeceased by: his parents, Elmer Arter and Lucille Arter (Sutter); his wife Linda Arter (Newhon); and his daughter Mary Arter-Bell. He is survived by: his children, Martha Arter (Cindy) of Wilmington, Debra Martin (Robert) of Mansfield and Michael Arter (Pat) of McKinney, Texas; his son-in-law Ronald Bell; his grandchildren, Matthew Martin (Ashley), Rebecca Martin Ling (Tyler), Benjamin Martin (Andrea), Jared Arter (Mia), Joshua Arter (Julianne) and Meg Arter; his great grandchildren, Jude Martin, Ezra Martin, Eliza Martin, Max Wilson, Samuel Ling, Eve Ling, Jaxton Martin, Hadley Martin, Bonnie Martin, Jamis Arter, Miles Arter, William Arter and John Arter; and his sisters, Marge Fullager (Sonny) of Columbus and Barbara Bowman (Bill) of Evansville, Indiana..
