Apger; his son Shawn Burkhart (Nanette) of Crestline; his adoptive son Christopher Burkhart; his son Christopher Burkhart (Nanaho) of Bremerton, Washington; his grandchildren, Craig Burkhart (Erica), Sarah Hiler (Nathan), Sakura Burkhart and Haruka Burkhart; his great grandchildren, Ella Burkhart, Jaxon Hiler and Bexley Hiler; and his siblings, Thomas Burkhart (Jeanne) of Marysville, William Burkhart (Barbara) of Galion, James Burkhart (Rose) of Wooster, Ernest Burkhart (Linda) of Jacksonville, Florida, Mary Lou Marek (Charles) of Crestline, Gladys Burkhart Henderson of Lakeland, Catherine Forman of Lakeland, Evelyn Buchanan of Ashland, Theresa Fisher (Thomas) of Lakeland and Irene Borgelt (Dennis) of Mansfield. He is also survived by 22 nieces and nephews.
