He was predeceased by: his wife Retta Mae Knight (Barcus); his children, Bradley T. Knight and Lori Ann Newlon; and his siblings, Kenneth "Tony" Knight and Virginia "Ginny" Stockum (Glen).

He is survived by: his son Robert Knight (Shelly) of Coshocton; his son-in-law Chris Newlon of Mt. Vernon; his grandchildren, Daniel Knight (Stephanie), Chelsie Mae Watson (Anthony), Retta Mae Newlon and Bryce C. Newlon; his great grandchildren, Clara Knight, Nina Knight and Zelda Mae Watson; his siblings, Raymond "Ray" Knight and Wanda Green; and his sister-in-law Lois Knight.
