He is survived by: his wife Donna Bates (Shearn); his children, Pam Matz (Keith) of Coshocton, Stan Bates (Marilyn) of West Lafayette and Ronald Bates (Candy) of Conesville; his grandchildren, Alyssa Blair (Nick), Kaitlyn Saylor (Josh), Andrea Walsh (Josh), Kristan Shroyer (Dustin), Harmony Bates, Ronnie Bates, Brent Bates, Amanda Baker (Jeff), Beth Cramer (Chad), Derric Matz, Megan Matz and Brandon Matz; and his brothers, Loren Bates (Marilyn) and Floyd Bates. He is also survived by 17 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.
