It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Daniel R. Szalai of Conneaut, Ohio, born in Butler, Pennsylvania, who passed away on January 13, 2023, at the age of 83, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his parents, Martin Szalai and Elizabeth Szalai (Nyakas); his former wife Patricia Doer; his brothers, Marty Szalai, John Szalai, Michael Szalai and Steve Szalai; and his stepsisters, Peggy, Sophie and Charlotte.
He is survived by: his wife Mary Szalai (Poplstein); his children, David Szalai, Jodi Forbes, Jill Forbes, Rebecca Odone and Leslie Dalrymple; and his sisters, Elizabeth Passmore and Cheryl Sharp. He is also survived by several grandchildren and great grandchildren.
