He was predeceased by : his wife Elizabeth McCloskey; his parents, Francis A. McCloskey and Gladys McCloskey (Buskirk); his sons, Michael McCloskey and Paul McCloskey; and his siblings, Frank McCloskey and Margaret Shaw.

He is survived by : his children, Richard McCloskey Jr. and Teresa McCloskey Hughes (Patrick); his daughter-in-law Hope McCloskey; his grandchildren, Shawn Rice (Erin), Julia Rice, Kelly McCloskey (Kelly), Richard "Bud" McCloskey III, Molly McCloskey (David), Andrew McCloskey (Sophia), Sarah McCloskey (Kenny), Michael Reeb, Katie Reeb (Shawn), Mathew Reeb (Victoria) and Megan Reeb Smith (Brian); his great grandchildren, Dominic Reeb, Noah Smith, Olivia Smith, Sawyer Reeb, Axel Reeb, Lula Lewis, Julian Lewis, Isabella Rice, Maddox McCloskey, Edith McCloskey Forest McCloskey, Vincent McCloskey and Oliver Lindquist; and also Msgr.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, July 11th 2024 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the John Quint Treboni Funeral Home (1177 W 5th Ave, Columbus, OH 43212). A prayer will be held on Thursday, July 11th 2024 at 6:30 PM at the same location. A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Friday, July 12th 2024 at 11:00 AM at the Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church (20 E Dominion Blvd, Columbus, OH 43214).
