Mary Gossman wrote a sympathy message

“Joe had 2 things that he loved most: God, and his cats. Joe and I became friends about 10 years ago, when he needed help with his cats. Joe had many over the years; each one once a forgotten stray that he fed and befriended. Joe was so proud of the fact that he could tame even the most scared or untrusting cat, allowing many to be adopted. He had a gentle way with them. Joe was a kind, good man. He never complained despite a hard life, often saying "God is good". I’ll miss him.”
