He was predeceased by: his parents, Charles Auer and Mary Auer (Brenner); and his siblings, Charles A., Martin J., Daniel P., William, Madeline Shellhase, Elizabeth "Betty" Crane and Rosemary Auer.
He is survived by: his wife Nancy (Hoblit); his children, Matthew J. Auer (Jennifer), Rebecca J. Sweeney and Stacy J. Cook (Brian); and his grandchildren, Niko, Milla Auer, Lillia, Clara Sweeney, Anna and Angus Cook. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
