He was predeceased by: his parents, Willian "Bill" Phipps and Elizabeth Sparks Phipps; his former wife Judy Norman Phipps; his children, George Phipps and Margaret Nott; and his siblings, Larry, Danny, Phil, Dave Phipps, Reba Marcum, Brenda Rucker and Louise Marcum.
He is survived by: his wife Sue Moore Phipps; his children, William "Willie" Phipps, Connie Phipps (Donnie Dempsy) and Lisa Bowe (Randy); his stepdaughter Penny Wheeler; and his siblings, Roger Phipps, Roy Phipps and Bonnie Myers. He is also survived by 9 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren.
