She was predeceased by: her husband Melvin R. McDowell Sr.; her children, Diane K. and Rick; her son-in-law Chuck Nigman; and her grandson Kevin Peters.

She is survived by: her children, Carol Nigman of Jacksonville and Ronald D. McDowell (Denise) of Galloway; her grandchildren, Tina, Tim and Dustin (Sarah); and her brothers, Paul Hale Jr (Loretta), Glen Hale, Michael Hale and Patrick Hale. She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
