He was predeceased by: his parents, Clifford McDowell and Alice McDowell (Gardner); and his siblings-in-law, Charles Irwin, Homer Irwin, Vernon Hughes, Mary Hughes and Sallie Garberson.
He is survived by: his wife Frances Irwin; his children, Rebecca McDowell of Columbus Grove and Robert McDowell (Susan) of Columbus Grove; his grandsons, Kurt McDowell (Sarah) of Lewis Center and Kip McDowell (Amanda) of Haskins; his great grandchildren, Hayden McDowell, Leah McDowell and Bristol McDowell; his stepgreat-grandchildren, Reilly Jones, Lucas Jones and Benjamin Jones; and his brother-in-law Robert Garberson of Columbus Grove. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
