He was predeceased by: his parents, Lester Rayle and Wanda Rayle (Harpster); his son Gary Rayle; and his siblings, Lois Brenneman and Bobby Rayle.
He is survived by: his wife Judy Gillespie Shafer; his children, Tod Shafer (Elizabeth) of Louisville, KY, Jennifer Roby (David) of Bluffton, OH, Lisa Rolston (Dan) of Louisville, KY and Valerie Ramirez (Rob) of Bowling Green, KY; his daughter-in-law Rita Halker of Columbus Grove; and his siblings, Ed Rayle (Joyce) of Ayersville, OH and Dolores Rayle of Upper Sandusky, OH. He is also survived by thirteen grandchildren and twenty-nine great-grandchildren.
