He was predeceased by: his parents, Ellsworth Poyer and Ruth Isabelle Kohli, Sr. (Elwood); and his sons, Wilbur and Walter. He is survived by: his children, Paul, Fred, James, David, Brent, Barry Kohli, Joanne Sanborn, Jane Penick and Marie Albertson; his siblings, Ronald Kohli, Lena Verhoff and Linda Rone; and his close friend Dorothy Hartman. He is also survived by numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.
