He was predeceased by: his parents, Albert Vernon and Bertha Belle Burkey (Schultz); his wife Ginny; and his brother James Burkey. He is survived by: his children, Rebecca Ali (Mohammad) of Portland, OR, Linda Burkey of Columbiana, Barbara Stevens (Steve) of Virginia Beach, VA and Raymond Burkey (Judy) of Lisbon; his grandchildren, Michelle, Anthony, Gibby Ray, Jamie, Trudy, Yasmine, Sabina, Kamran, Alea and Odie; and his sisters, Lois Morse and Elizabeth Beiling. He is also survived by ten great-grandchildren.
A funeral service was held on Thursday, March 6th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the Columbiana Cemetery Chapel E. Park.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations in Vernon's memory be sent to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
