He was predeceased by: his parents, Frederick'Bud' Bruns and Mary Ann C. Bruns (Stukenborg); and his daughter Julie. He is survived by: his daughter Ashley Bruns of St. Henry; his stepdaughter Amy Banks of Xenia; and his siblings, Barb Powell of Coldwater, Steve (Deborah Bruns), Janice (Chris Hale), Gary Bruns, Tina Thobe of Montezuma and Rita (Mark Lennartz). He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.
