He was predeceased by: his parents, William Carpenter and Cloral Jarvis Carpenter; his sister Phyllis Carpenter; and his nephews, James Lee Carpenter and Tyler Jarvis (Myra Vallance Carpenter).
He is survived by: his daughters, Sherri Yamanaka (Jeff), Donna Carpenter Malone and Mary Ann Lucas (Rod); his siblings, Mary Sue Surritt (Bud), Kim Jarvis Smith (John), James Carpenter, Kenny Carpenter (Gladys), Larry Carpenter (Pearl), Robert Carpenter (Brenda) and William J. Carpenter (LeeAnn); and his grandchildren, Tara Jackson, Danielle Carpenter, Travis Jackson, Stevi Malone, Trey Malone (Hannah), Sarah Lucas and Derrick Lucas. He is also survived by nine great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews.
