He was predeceased by: his parents, William Albert and Gertrude Kirkpatrick (Storey); his half-brother Gene Kirkpatrick; his sister Dora Lee "Pete" Kirkpatrick; and his son Bryan Kirkpatrick.

He is survived by: his wife Terra Kirkpatrick (McCabe); his children, Brandy Auer (Terry) of Cleves, OH and Troy Dale Smith (Endea) of Vevay, IN; and his sisters, Donna Ketenbrink and Betty York of Dillsboro, IN. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
