He was predeceased by: his sibling Thomas (Deanna); and his parents, Robert Jones and Wiynema Jones. He is survived by: his spouse Shirley Jones; his children, Tracy A. Maybury (Brian), James R. Jones Jr. (Anne), Kelci, Evan, Hannah, Tim, Bella, Ellie and Chip; and his siblings, Kathy Schreiber (David) and Jerry (Joanne).
