Wanda Hovanec Obituary
With solemn hearts, we announce the passing of Wanda Hovanec of Cleveland, Ohio, whose presence will be deeply missed, having departed on April 4, 2025 at the age of 101. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Frank Banas and Pauline Banas; her siblings, Walter, Lucille Janowski (Bill), Carl (Lillian), Chester (Sophie), Joseph, Veronica Kovach (Tom) and Theresa Bielert; and her sisters-in-law, Elsie Kurfist (Willie) and Florence Hovanec.
She is survived by: her children, Ralph (Terry), Mel (Ruthmarie), Ron (Julie) and Carol Rauch (Matt); her grandchildren, Stacey Rubbo (Tony), Jason Hovanec, David (Nikolai), Scott (Ditta) and Erica Weyhe; her great grandchildren, Sophia Hovanec and Isabella Rubbo; and her siblings, Paul Banas (late Dolores) and Patricia Pfenninger (late Steve). She is also survived by many nieces, nephews.
Visitation was held on Wednesday, April 9th 2025 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the A. Ripepi and Sons' Funeral Home (18149 Bagley Rd, Cleveland, OH 44130). A Mass of Christian burial was held on Thursday, April 10th 2025 at 10:00 AM at the St. Mary's Catholic Church (250 Kraft St, Berea, OH 44017).
In lieu of flowers, Wanda requested donations be made to Shriners Children's Hospital or St. Jude's Children's Hospital.
