He was predeceased by: his parents, James Tanner and Mabel Tanner (Underwood); his half-brothers, Richard and Lark Long; his sister Dorothy Berta; his brother-in-law Lonnie; and his nephew Robert.

He is survived by: his children, James Tanner (Kelly) and Dawne Tanner; his grandchildren, Kira, Kenna, Logan and Rhylee; his great grandchild Cyrus; his sister Brenda Taylor; and his brother-in-law Bob Berta. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins.
