With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Gertrude Blanton of Cleveland, Ohio, who passed away on December 22, 2023 at the age of 84. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Hattie Frank Tanner McGhee and Tommy McGhee, Sr.; her siblings, Christine Hoskins, Hattie Mae Jenkins, Dennis McGhee, Bessie Allen, Mammie Holmes, Precious Ferguson and Arthur Wald; her grandchildren, Marlon Wills (Jamese Wills) of Cleveland, OH, Taylor Golston of Cleveland, OH, Jeron Blanton of Cleveland, OH and Joel Clayton of Jacksonville, FL; her brother Justin Blanton; and her great grandchildren, Madison Wills, Mason Wills and Zoe Wills.
She is survived by: her husband Melvin Blanton; her children, Veronica Blanton of Cleveland, OH, Monica Blanton Teamer of Cleveland, OH and Rodney Blanton (Radiah Blanton) of Cleveland, OH; and her siblings, Tommy McGhee (Robin McGhee) of Columbus, GA, Louis James McGhee (late Lillian McGhee) of Columbus, GA and Earline Baker of Lilburn, GA. She is also survived by her siblings, cousins, nieces, and nephews.
She had a passion for charities; St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, the American Heart Association, and the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation were dear to heart, and she would make regular donations.
