He was predeceased by: his parents, Lula and Willis; and his siblings, Marjorie Wainwright, Nelson, Jay, Hope Young and Nancy Koran.

He is survived by: his children, Dawn Auble (Doug) and Jim (Drita); his stepchildren, Karen Baum (Harold), Gordon Painter (Jane), Kevin Painter (Kris) and Susan Painter (Warren Young); his grandchildren, Shawna Ortiz (Osiris), Rachel Gettlin (Alex), Jared Auble (Grace), Ramona Auble and Dmitriy Meltzer; and his close friend Frank Underwood of Madison Press.
