He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Dolores Holtzclaw and Frye Holtzclaw; his children, Angela Rothwell (Daniel) and Kenny Holtzclaw; his grandchildren, Daniel Rothwell III, Alex Rothwell, Ben Rothwell, Raeghan Rothwell, Alaina Holtzclaw and Zachary Holtzclaw; and his siblings, Joyce Ingram, Eddie Holtzclaw, Danny Holtzclaw, Ted Holtzclaw and Rick Holtzclaw. He was also cherished by numerous nieces and nephews.
