He was predeceased by: his wife Dorothy "Dottie" Schmitt (Peck); his parents, Lawrence Schmitt and Etta Schmitt (Broshear); his siblings, Margie Walen, Dorothy Dahling and Lawrence Schmitt Jr.; and his grandson Shaun Wasmuth.
He is survived by: his sons, Joseph Schmitt of Springfield, Ronald Schmitt of Brookville and Dave Schmitt (Terry) of Butler Twp; his grandchildren, David (Brittany), Justin (Victoria), Kassandra (T. J.), Josh, Eric and Megan; his great grandchildren, J. J., Logan, Grace, Payton, Paisley, Noah, Taylor, Gavin and Maddie; and his sister Charlotte Dalton of Middletown. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
