He was predeceased by: his wife Mary "Marlene" Hitzfield (McFarren); his parents, Albert Hitzfield and Elsie Hitzfield (Schenkel); his siblings, Richard, Bill Hitzfield and Virginia Moore; and his sons, James and John Hitzfield.
He is survived by: his children, Glenda Hirsch (Doug), Jill Shroyer, Timothy Hitzfield (Doris) and Tyler Hitzfield (Lee); his grandchildren, Ben Hirsch (Leah), Joe Hirsch (Erin), Lindsey Shroyer, Kelsey Sells (Tony), Taylor Hitzfield (Baylee Johnson), Emily Shroyer (Ashley Snowden) and Korey Hitzfield; his great grandchildren, Braedon, Bella, Jake, Lyla, Carter, Glenna and Joey; and his siblings, Nancy Lohr, Larry Hitzfield and Roger Hitzfield (Becky). He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
