He was predeceased by: his parents, Clarence Shaffer and Ruth Shaffer (Dean); his stepson Donald Dewey; and his siblings, Weldon, Clarence Shaffer, Jr., Rose Clark and Patsy Selin.

He is survived by: his wife Eleanor Shaffer (Easter); his children, Connie Shaffer of Circleville and Mark Shaffer (Gabriella) of Westerville; his stepdaughter Debra Savage of Circleville; his grandchildren, Bridgett Neff, Marco Shaffer and Victoria Nicholson (Garrett); and his brothers, Jim Shaffer of Circleville and Glen Shaffer of Amanda.
