Sue Ann Merrin Obituary
Sue Ann Merrin, 85, went to her heavenly home on August 5, 2023. She was a beloved and devoted wife to her husband, Keith, in a marriage that spanned over six decades. She battled dementia and followed her husband to heaven only eight hours after he died. Sue was a woman of faith with a firm devotion to Jesus Christ and family.
After graduating from New Washington High School, Sue attended Capital University majoring in music. God gifted her with a beautiful singing voice, and she used her musical talent to serve Him. She worked in various jobs and spent many years helping her husband in business ventures while also supporting his coaching career.
Family meant everything to Sue. She selflessly and tirelessly ensured her family was well cared for, supported, and loved. Being a grandma and great grandma was a special joy to her and she played a significant role in the lives of her grandchildren. A warm and welcoming person, she made friends easily and treated others with kindness and generosity. She was known as Momma Merrin to many, and she gave the very best hugs.
Until her health condition made it impossible, Sue was active in the life of the church and worshipped the Lord faithfully at First Baptist Church in Mount Vernon, Ohio.
She will be sadly missed and is survived by her; son, Greg (Fran); daughters, Laura (Steve) Short, and Sherri (Dave) Perry; grandchildren Matthew Short, Ben (Jamie) Perry, Alise (Kevin) Napp, Joe (Hayley) Perry, Nathan (Amanda) Short, Whitney (Aaron) Swart, Jim (Brittany) Perry, Luke Perry, and Levi Perry; 12 great-grandchildren; and brother, Ken (Diana) Mohrhoff.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Keith; her father and mother, Oliver and Marguerite Mohrhoff.
Family and friends are invited to celebrate Sue's life at calling hours to be held at Snyder Funeral Homes Lasater Chapel, 11337 Upper Gilchrist Road, Mount Vernon, Ohio, on Friday, August 11, 2023, from 4 - 7 pm. Her family will have a private graveside service.
Sue's family would like to extend their deepest gratitude for the staff at Brookdale Senior Living and Gentiva Hospice for their compassionate attention and professional care during the last months of her life.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Stephen J. Short scholarship at the Knox County Foundation, 101 E. Gambier Street, Mount Vernon, OH 43050. This scholarship fund supports students involved in music and athletics.
