He was predeceased by: his parents, Earl and Mary (McKitrick); his wife Dorothy Harrison (Boltenhouse); his sisters, Shirley and Joy Brown; his grandson Joshua Estep; and his son-in-law David Cockrell.

He is survived by: his children, Karen Cockrell and Leonard "Lennie" Gibbs (Kathy); his grandchildren, Shane Estep (Shannon Patel), Brandon Estep, Jeni Holland (Tim), Courtney Gibbs (Fahim), Robert Kemp and Jennifer Hunter; his great grandchildren, Angie, Alex Estep, Miah, Alexis and Adelynn Holland; and his brother Ronnie Harrison (Maxine). He is also survived by nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
