He was predeceased by: his parents, Gilbert J. Shaffer and Mary M. Shaffer (Crowl); and his siblings, Esther Martin, Dave and Roger Shaffer.
He is survived by: his wife Debra V. Shaffer (Rooker); his children, Dreama Shaffer (Charles McGowan), Gilbert Shaffer Jr. (Katrina) and Jason Shaffer (Ashley); his grandchildren, Kylee, Kiana, Kyza, Charles, Keily, Covin, Ethan, Gilbert, Jaedan, Jaelyn, Jason, Justin and Sunny; and his brothers, Eugene, Andy and Danny. He is also survived by 6 great grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews.
