He was predeceased by: his wife Judith M. Ruehl. He is survived by: his children, John R. Ruehl (Robin), Jennifer Etler (Vernon) and Jodie Reeves (Robert); and his grandchildren, Amanda, Andrea, John R., Alexander, Rachelle and Jordan. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Visitation was held on Friday, December 13th 2024 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM and on Saturday, December 14th 2024 from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM. A funeral service was held on Saturday, December 14th 2024 at 10:00 AM at the St. Paul United Church of Christ (5312 Old Blue Rock Rd, Cincinnati, OH 45247). Viewing was held on Saturday, December 14th 2024 at 4:00 PM.

Donations can be made to the memorial fund at St. Paul church or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
