He was predeceased by: his wife Linnie B. Gaines; his son Johnny Jeffrey Gaines; his parents, Ira Lee and Hattie Dammons Gaines; and his sisters, Ophelia, Olivia, Beatrice, Lillie Mae and Ira Lee.
He is survived by: his son Walter Gaines, Jr. of Cincinnati, OH; and his grandchildren, Consuela Gaines, Rissie Gaines, Jamie Gaines and Travest Gaines. He is also survived by 17 great grandchildren, including Leonis M. Board, Jrand Darien Wood, several great-great grandchildren. and a loving host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
