He was predeceased by: his wife Marie Gilliam; his son Robert Gilliam; his grandchild Angel; his siblings, Polene Daniels, Bobby Gilliam, Earl Gilliam, Franklin Gilliam and Alanene Shaner; and his siblings-in-law, Violet Evans, Harold and Raymond Beckelhymer.

He is survived by: his children, Michael Gilliam and Karen McElroy; his grandchildren, Michael (Natalie), Vickie (Jody), Bradley (Sarah), Lindsey, Brian, David (Melissa), Jason (Susan), Sarah, Calvin, Sean and Matt; his great grandchildren, Stella, Benjamin, Sharon Marie, Corbin, Jarrett, Courtney, Gage, Erin, Abbie, Riley, Miles, Eleanor, Bryce, Austyn, Rori, Kaylee, Alayna, Scarlet and Lydia; his sisters, Virginia Conley, Evelyn Dunham, Vivian Eakin, Jane Lorenz, Opal Myers and June Waters; and his sister-in-law Gladys Lytle.

Visitation was held on Thursday, February 13th 2025 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM and on Friday, February 14th 2025 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the McKelvey Road Baptist Church (9865 Mc Kelvey Rd, Cincinnati, OH 45231). A funeral service was held on Friday, February 14th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the same location.
