He was loved and cherished by many people including: his wife Debra Runyon Colwell; his children, Christopher Scott Colwell, Jr. of Lexington, KY and Veronica "Ronnie" Colwell of Cincinnati, OH.; his siblings, Leslie (Jim) and Craig Colwell (Kathy) of Orinda, CA; his nieces and nephews, Kate Holdcroft (Kent), Nate Little (Sarah), Andy Stankey (Julie), Sarah Stankey, Matt Stankey (Nicole), Jake Stankey, Meghan Colwell, Caroline Colwell and Molly Colwell; his great-nieces and great-nephews, Logan, Bekah, William, Colin, Eleanor and Blake; and his brother Kirk Jonathan Colwell. He was also cherished by extended family and friends.
