He is survived by: his wife Sally Place Carter; his children, Marian Worcester Carter "Polly" of Palm Desert, Burr Noland Carter III, Nick, Richmond, Edward Hill Carter "Ned" of Charlottesville and Sarah Carter Grey (Schuyler) of Denver; his grandchildren, Blair Carter, Teddy Carter, Garrettson Carter and Schuyler Grey; and his spouse Sarah "Sally" Lothrop Place of Greenwich.
