He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Clayton Schmidt and Ruth Schmidt (Schleif); his wife Mary Veldman; his children, Matthew Schmidt (Emily), Nicholas Schmidt (Stephanie), Kathleen Miller (Tyler) and Laura Beth Schmidt; and his grandchildren, Layla, Olivia, Crosby Schmidt, Addison, Ayden, Ashlyn Miller and Calvin Schmidt.
