He was predeceased by: his parents, James E., Jr. and Helen L. Shope (Mustain); his sisters, Judy Buzzelli and Patty Lundsford; and his brother-in-law Brad Summers.
He is survived by: his spouse Lesley J. Summers; his children, Nicole Long (Shawn) of Chillicothe, Colton Shope of Chillicothe and Collin Shope (Megan) of Chillicothe; his grandson Davis Long; his brother James E. Shope III (Joan); his nieces and nephews, Gayle Lundsford, Gus Lundsford, Lori Buzzelli, Chris Buzzelli and Greg Shope; and his brother-in-law Creston Summers (Judy).
