He was predeceased by: his parents, John William and Ruth Evelyn Mitchell; and his daughters, Pamela and Gwendolyn Mitchell. He is survived by: his wife Helen; his brother Leonard "Buddy" Mitchell (Nikki); and his children, Craig Massie (Jill), Joanna Mitchell, Melissa Mitchell, Roland Mitchell (Charlene), Cheilon Mitchell-Preston (Christian), Miguel Mitchell, Jesus Mitchell (Sherry), Ancizar Mitchell (Kelsie) and Maria West (Jeremiah). He is also survived by numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests those moved to do so, may make a charitable donation on his behalf to St. Jude's Children Hospital, the Friends of Ohio State Parks, or a charitable service organization of their choice.
