He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Roy P. Smith, Sr. and Ruth Smith (Payne); his wife Phyllis Fraley; his siblings, Walter Smith, Shirley Landman (Bill) and Lola Schumann; and his children, Dawn McDaniel (Roger) of Chillicothe, Jay Smith (Charlesa) of Maryville, TN, Shannon Connell (Mike) of Chillicothe, Becky Hefner (Chris) of Glenshaw, PA and Erin Martin (Charles) of Havelock, NC. He was also cherished by 12 grandchildren, 2 great--grandchildren, and a host of nieces and nephews.
