He was predeceased by: his parents, James Betts and Margaret Bryant Betts; his wife Bonnie Sue Cockrell; and his siblings, Patricia Bryant Betts, Lois "Sue" Bower, David Kenton Betts, James Betts Jr., Terry Betts, William "Kenny" Betts and Clyde Betts.

He is survived by: his children, Christina Betts and Joseph Betts; and his brothers, Steve Betts (Diane) of Chillicothe and Rickey Betts (Kathy) of Chillicothe. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
