He was predeceased by: his parents, Robert Earl Long, Sr. and Edith Rush Elmore Long; his daughter Anna Marie Long (David Charles Fellabaum); and his siblings, Robert Earl Long, Jr. (Eleanor Smith Long), Kenneth Long (Mary Lee Parker), Ruth E Long and Edith Long Vance (Claude Vance).
He is survived by: his wife Rita Tardif Long; his sons, George W. Long, Jr. (Beverly) and Dwight Earl Long; and his granddaughter Amanda Grace Fellabaum Pontious (Ryan Matthew Pontious). He is also survived by nephews and nieces.
