He was predeceased by: his parents, Wardie Ragland and Kathryn Ragland (Beatty); his sisters, Gladys Logan, Hilda Jackson, Darlene Ragland and Arlene Garnes; his son Stacey Lamarr Hitchens; and his wife Patricia A. Hitchens.
He is survived by: his son Carl M. Hitchens (Toni) of Frankfort; his grandchildren, Carl Hitchens II, Alexandria Ewing (Hitchens), Janell Maughmer and Stacee Hitchens; and his siblings, Charlotte of Springfield, Daisy of Chillicothe and Wardie Edward of Chillicothe. He is also survived by 11 great-grandchildren, and 4 great-great grandchildren.
