He was predeceased by: his parents, Herbert E. Dutchess and Betty A. Dutchess (Skaggs); his former wife Kathy Dutchess; and his brothers, Michael Dutchess and Matthew Dutchess.

He is survived by: his wife Mary Jones of Chillicothe; his children, Candy Dutchess of Chillicothe, Ben Dutchess of Chillicothe and Mark Jones (Stacy) of Enon; his stepdaughters, Tracy Lawhorn (Ian) and Mandy Rose (Ryan); and his sister Kathleen Detty of Chillicothe. He is also survived by several grandchildren and great grandchildren.
