He was predeceased by: his parents, Julius H. Bruns and Mildred P. Bruns (Fiely); his son-in-law Bryan Schlater; his brothers, Walter Bruns, Ken Bruns and Joe Bruns; his parents-in-law, Rochus and Mildred Wendel (Beyke); and his siblings-in-law, Robert Wynk, Dave Kuck, Robert Wendel, Andy Schlarman, Marie Wendel, Ron Wendel and Don Wendel.
He is survived by: his daughters, Shelly and Mandy Schlater (Jeremy Lefeld); his grandchildren, Blake Homan, Audrey Lefeld, Leah Thobe, Abigail Thobe, Charlotte Lefeld, Parker Schlater, Elise Thobe and Kinley Schlater; his sister Roseann (Tom Rutschilling); and his parents-in-law, Pat Bruns, Delores Schlarman, William Wendel, Rita Wynk, Rosann, Clete Prenger, Kathleen Wendel, Karen Wendel, Janet Kuck, David, Eileen Wendel, Marjorie, Nick Meier, Ernest and Marilyn Wendel.
