He is survived by: his siblings, Ruby J. Bellis Vaughn (Wetzel) of Harrisburg, PA, Evelyn M. McDanel (Wetzel) of Billings, MT and Robert M. Wetzel of Manhattan, MT.; his grandchildren, Laura Meyer (JT) of University Heights, OH, Andrew Wetzel (Krystle) of Nashville, TN and Jessica Gillis of Ohio City, OH; and his great grandchild Olive Meyer of University Heights, OH..

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Richard and Arlene Wetzel Scholarship in Music through the Ohio University School of Music (contact the School of Music at 740-593-4244), to Southeast Ohio Foodbank, or to the charity of one's choosing.

“Part 1, Sister Evelyn To my nieces and nephews Richard, Erika, John, and Dara, my condolences on the passing of your Dad. I grieve, but am grateful for the release his suffering. he was so proud of you . I appreciate the loving care given in the familiar surroundings if his home during the last days of his life. The place of visitation and celebration of his life would have pleased him as it is likely close to where he shared his passion for music with others for many years.”
