He was predeceased by: his brother-in-law Albert K. Messel. He is survived by: his wife Jo Ann Smucker (Bandura); his children, Laura Ingling (Ted) and Richard Smucker (Rosalind); his grandchildren, Gretchen and Ben; his stepgrandchildren, Grant and Rachel; and his sister Marilyn Messel. He is also survived by numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
