He is survived by: his wife Janice Jo Benson; his son Anthony; his daughter-in-law Suzan; his granddaughters, Elise and Noelle; his brother Jim; his sister-in-law Sandy; and his nephew Nick.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial donation to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF) is preferred.
