He was predeceased by: his parents, Roy James and Laura James (Layman); and his siblings, Dolores Scroggins, Dale James and Dorrell James.

He is survived by: his wife Ramona James (Yager); his children, Monica Bowen (Ryan) and Marq James (Andrea); and his grandchildren, Zachary Bowen, Macy Bowen and Morgan James. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews; and many dear friends.
