She was predeceased by: her husband Cecil Burks; and her children, Willie Atkinson and Shirley Barnett. She is survived by: her daughters, Ann Patterson (Edward) and Phyllis Vance (Rodney); and her sibling O'neil Burton. She is also survived by 19 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; 30 great-great-grandchildren.
