He was predeceased by: his father Donald. He is survived by: his wife Laura Mercer (Schroeder); his son Eric Mercer (Heather); and his brothers, Gary and Don Mercer.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Dale's name to Stein Hospice or the Ottawa County Humane Society.
